Day 8 – Sun, 30 Sept 2018 – Ducks, Honey, BBQ & Nightshoot

If you can’t tell by the title for today, it covered quite a variety of things – in fact the original title was: “Duck Lagoon, Clifford’s Honey Farm, Show & Tell, BBQ, Night photography & the NRL Grand Final” but that would take up most of the page so I had to shorten it.

Three of our men (not including Danny) took off at 5:30am for an early morning photo shoot at Duck Lagoon. The remainder stayed in their nice warm beds!

The rest of the day was spent locally – Clifford’s Honey Farm and another trip to Duck Lagoon for the rest of us to get photos.

Clifford’s has a store, a small museum and an instructional section showing how they gather the honey etc. I particularly liked the glass-walled beehive.

After Clifford’s, we headed to Duck Lagoon. As you might notice neither Danny nor I found the birds overly inspiring at that time of day.

The property does have plenty of other things to photograph, including gorgeous trees, rusty old cars and farm machinery as well as one little fellow up gum tree.

By the time we got back into town for a late lunch most of Kingscote was closed and the best option was the Cactus Café. If I ever go back to KI, that will be the FIRST place I go. Definitely the best food in the area!!

The evening was spent having show & tell of our favourite photos so far and then a BBQ dinner. For the sports mad amongst us (which turned out to just be Tracey, Ken & Colleen) the NRL Grand final was on TV that night so we huddled in front of a tiny TV in one cabin while the rest of the group did a night shoot. Ralph provided them with a fabulous instructional session. A great time was had by all and if Danny’s final photo is anything to go by, it was well worth standing out in the freezing night air. What a stunner!
