The start to the day in the Clare Valley Hotel included me standing on “something a bit squishy” in bare feet and realising (once I’d put my glasses on) that it was a scorpion! Pretty dead at that point and I don’t believe it was alive when I stood on it as it certainly didn’t sting me. We have no idea whether it came with us from KI/Christies Beach or if it was a local.
The property at Clare has Alpacas in the paddock so we wandered up there for a photo opportunity on the way out.
Breakfast was at a café in Clare township and then we stopped at Crabtree Wines (Watervale) on our way back to Adelaide. The host for our wine-tasting was the same lady who served us at Taylors wines on Friday! I’m not sure whether she was happy or not about the fact that we chose to ship some Crabtree wines home but not Taylors.
Needless to say Danny found a few things to photograph on this leg of our journey.
We detoured to Gawler for lunch. It is a typical small country town but the food at the hotel was delightful – as were the decorations.
We finally arrived back in Adelaide and our accommodation was at the The Playford. We had originally stayed here in 2011 when we came here for Tracey’s 50th (there’s that theme again).
Dinner was at the same hotel we’d had dinner on the first day of this trip. It was nearby and there wasn’t too much else open on a Sunday night.
