Bamberg 17/10/2024

Morning saw us continuing to sail from Wurzburg along the Main River and arriving outside of Bamberg after lunch.

Janos, our tour director, gave an informative talk about the technical aspects of the locks we have and will be encountering throughout the trip.

We then had a Bavarian style morning tea with beer, sausages and pretzels.

After lunch we were bused to Bamberg for a walking tour of the town. Our guide was very elderly, using 2 walking sticks, and it was very hard to understand him. Our walking tour was quite short but that meant there was more time for Danny to take photos of this quaint little town.

The town is known as “Little Venice” because of the canals it’s built on and the old Town Hall is built right in the middle of the river with bridges to both sides.

Back to the ship where we continued to sail reaching the Main-Danube Canal.
