While other passengers went off on a tour of yet another Palace, we had a leisurely breakfast and then took a shuttle bus into the city. The morning included a tour to Melk Abbey. This has been a working Benedictine monastery since 1089. We started by checking the gardens where a resident artist had added “exotic animals” and painted the ceilings and walls of the various rooms in the building.
